Full scale audit of management readiness to deal with hospital
crisis situations. Assessment includes emergency hotline lists, backup
facilities, community notification procedures, internal/external communications
strategies and implementation mechanisms.
Hospital Crisis Management
Ongoing analysis and recommendations, in
conjunction with management, legal counsel and turnaround partners,
as to how a hospital crisis should be dealt with, including counsel
on personnel and action steps through the life cycle of the crisis.
Actual situations have included layoffs, strikes, quality and
financial ratings downgrades, no confidence votes, testing deficiencies,
wrongful treatment or deaths.
Hospital Crisis Communication
Ongoing analysis and recommendations as
to strategy and implementation of hospital crisis communications – what
should be communicated internally and externally, who should communicate,
and the frequency and media to be used. Our initiatives may include
drafting documents, training in-house personnel, and/or representing
the hospital with local media.

Preparation of key executives in terms of presenting hospital’s position
relative to the crisis. Instruction includes simulated interview training,
role playing, and creation of key messages and talking points.

Preparation of key executives in terms of presenting hospital’s position
to the community. Services include presentation preparation and speaker instruction
in terms of substance and style.
Hospital Internal Communications
Counsel in communicating with key internal publics – the board, physicians,
employees, unions, etc., so that all understand the hospital’s rationale
in dealing with crisis. Support may include creation of new internal vehicles,
training of internal communications staff, and drafting of key messages.
